Neural Correlates of Object Recognition and Action Workshop

While there are several basic mechanisms understood related to tool/object recognition and usage, much work needs to be done to:
1. understand more specifics about how we identify objects in both recognition and action, and;
2. understand the basic mechanisms of how impairments in such tasks can occur.

Neural correlates have been identified for certain aspects of these tasks, yet we are still unclear about the exact role many these areas play and how they interact to relay information accurately.  As well, work related to understanding the wide spectrum of deficits after neural injury is critical and focuses a need on rehabilitation.  In order to address these questions, we have formed this meeting to address these unknown questions in an intimate and collaborative setting to better inform each of us as to the deficit profiles that commonly manifest after injury.

What to expect?
A core to each session will be in developing the basics relevant to the topic, key questions that remain, and how they may inform us of the deficits seen in patients with neural pathologies.  The challenge to each speaker and the audience will be to address not only what has been done, but also what is critically needed to advance the science to help develop new research focused on and firm neural basis.
